Larmandier Bernier is one of the winemaking families that focus exclusively on the original character and aging of their wines. Their recipe for success? Healthy, vital soils, old, resistant grape varieties, strong native yeasts, hand-picked ripe grapes, oak barrels and barriques. Their champagnes are all expressions of a specific site, usually also of a grape variety, often from one harvest, as in the case of this champagne. This vintage champagne, made from 100% chardonnay, is a first class representative of the Côte des Blancs. The chardonnay comes from very old vines in Cramant on a large, southeast-facing Grand Cru terroir. The 50-80 year old vines are very deep rooted – which, along with their genetic diversity, contributes to the complexity of this blanc de blancs champagne. The champagne was aged on its lees for over 7 years, which lends it its wonderful creaminess and contributes to the complexity. A creamy, full-bodied and distinctive blanc de blancs champagne with fine citric mineral and salty notes, radiant acids and with impressive length. - In the glass: a bright lemon yellow and steady, fine perlage
- On the nose: due to its intense aroma, this blanc de blancs is very present right from the start. Citrus peel, apple and warm bread, followed by the minerality typical of Larmandier. With a little aeration, one can perceive more and more mineral and salty notes and scents of yellow fruit.
- On the palate: the super creamy and fine structure of the champagne is rather surprising at first. Delicate notes of brioche, lemon zest and limestone pamper the palate, followed by a slightly salty note in the long finish. This champagne is at once graceful and powerful.
- As an aperitif and with canapés of all kinds.

The Larmandier-Bernier Champagne House
For their champagne, the Larmandier-Bernier family grow their wine near the towns of Vertus, Cramant, Chouilly, Oger and Avize. A distinct feature of theirs is the wine’s spontaneous fermentation with natural yeasts. As a result, each vintage, site and barrel has its own yeast, creating a very authentic and fascinating champagne. The champagnes are also very diverse, as each site is pre-aged separately for a year in barriques or barrels before aging for several years. The champagnes receive a low dosage, between 0 and 0.4 g/l, making freshness, authenticity and precise minerality the hallmarks of the Champagne House Larmandier-Bernier.
