The Champagne
Amyot’s Carte Or ( which translates as card of gold) is a full-bodied, slightly creamy and yet delightfully fresh Pinot Noir Champagne at a very, very good value for money. The black grape lends body and fruitiness to the champagne. The perlage is gentle but lively and highlights the light creaminess. A delicate acidic note awakens taste buds and preserves the champagne’s freshness.
Tasting Note
- In the glass, a delicate gold – as the name suggests – with a slight yellow shimmer and fine, even perlage.
- On the nose, scents of yellow-fleshed fruits such as nectarines and apricots followed by delicate brioche aromas.
- The palate is round and full with a slight creaminess. Alongside the yellow fruits, aromas of red fruits now emerge. The pleasant and nicely integrated acidity provides a fresh touch and long finish.
Pair with
- A lovely aperitif.
- This Blanc de Noirs is the ideal companion to appetizers and dishes with spicier sauces. Serve with poultry, beef or fresh pasta.
- Will also harmonize well with a sumptuous cheese platter.
The Amyot Champagne House
Based in the Côte des Bars, in the south of the Champagne region, the Amyot family business has been producing champagne since the 1930s. The brothers Bertrand and Vincent are the third generation to lead the family enterprise, originally founded by their grandfather. Passionate about their heritage, the two continue to cultivate an area of about 22 hectares spread across the villages of Chacenay, Courteron, Essoyer and Loches-sur-Ource. In addition to the three prominent Champagne grapes, Amyot also cultivates Pinot Blanc, which is exceedingly rare in the Champagne region. The family is conscious of its environmental footprint and cultivates its plots using sustainable farming methods.
